The School Day

There are six lessons in a school day, with each period lasting 50 to 55 minutes. The timetable follows a ten-day cycle, hence Week A and Week B. After a registration/assembly period, teaching begins at 8.45 am (9.00 am on Wednesday). Pupils are sometimes asked to stay later for games and other activities, but adequate notice is always given. A late bus runs on Thursdays for students particiapting in extra curricular activities.

Each week all pupils participate in a Wednesday whole school assembly and collective worship lasting for 20 minutes. All pupils take part in a weekly year assembly and act of collective worship lasting for 10 minutes. On a fortnightly basis pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 participate in a lower school assembly and puils in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 particiapte in an upper school assembly. On the remaining days Form Tutors lead classes in a 'Thought for the Day'.
