Health and Social Care
Students can choose to study Health and Social Care as they enter KS4 and KS5. They learn about the work of Health, Social and Early Year’s services/ settings and the people that work within those settings.
Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and Future KS4 Cohorts)
Pearson BTEC Level 2 Tech Award in Health and Social Care.
The qualification comprises three core units. One of the units, Health and Wellbeing,
is assessed as a task set and marked by Pearson, completed under supervised conditions. The set task will be completed in three hours within the period timetabled by Pearson . The remaining two units are assessed through set tasks, internally assessed and moderated by Pearson.
Key Stage 4 (Current Year 11)
Pearson BTEC Level 2 First Award in Health and Social care.
The qualification comprises three core units and one optional unit, each worth 25%. One of the core units, Human Lifespan and development is assessed through a one hour exam taken at the end of Year 10. The other 3 units are set tasks by Pearson which are internally assessed and moderated by Pearson.
Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form)
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care.
The qualification comprises of 3 Mandatory units and 1 optional unit. 2 of the mandatory units are assessed externally through an exam set and marked by Pearson. The other 2 units are assessed through set tasks by Pearson which are Internally marked and moderated.
