Parents of Year 6 children on the roll of a catchment primary school automatically receive information about admissions from the Children, Young People & Families directorate early in the autumn term. Others need to contact the Department direct. The school organises an evening meeting for prospective parents in late September/early October followed by an open morning in the following week. Catchment parents receive the details via the local primary school; others need to contact The Marlborough School direct.

In the admissions’ procedure priority is given to children living in the catchment area. Places not taken up in this way are allocated to siblings first followed by out of catchment children on the roll of a catchment primary school. Remaining places are allocated on distance. The number of places is limited to 165 in years 7 - 11 though families denied a place through the allocation process can go through the appeals system.
