Duke of Edinburgh Expedition
The Duke of Edinburgh assessed expedition took place in Winchcombe during the final weekend of April, with over 50 students working towards achieving their overall Bronze award. Teams worked cohesively to organise, plan and demonstrate effective camp-craft, navigate challenging terrain and complete two days of walking, totalling a distance in excess of 20 miles.
Being self-sufficient with heavy pack for two days proved tiring. It was evident this was tough weekend mentally and physically, particularly with the addition of constant torrential rain. However, this addition of challenging weather only highlighted the strength of all our candidates. All groups maintained positive spirits, and it was a pleasure to observe decisive teamwork through effective communication and encouraging morale. Well done to all involved!
