Arkwright Scholarship Success for Marlborough School Pupils October 2020

I am delighted to share the amazing news that Year 12 pupils Meg Batty and Jack Barton have secured Arkwright Engineering Scholarships.

The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship programme is the most prestigious scholarship scheme of its type in the UK and has awarded over five thousand scholarships to date. The programme began in 1991 when a group of committed Headteachers agreed to raise the profile of Design and Technology and recognise and celebrate future high-calibre Engineers and Technical Designers.

The Scholarships are awarded to outstanding 16-year-old students through a rigorous selection process. The programme provides successful candidates with support throughout their A Level studies. Every Scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, university professional institution, armed service, government organisation, worshipful company, charitable trust or personal donor. Support is provided in a variety of ways, including valuable ‘hands-on’ work experience, help with a curriculum project or in the form of a dedicated personal mentor who can provide advice and guidance with studies and career planning.

Meg and Jack are wonderful role models for our school and I am sure will take full advantage of the many opportunities provided for them as Arkwright Engineering Scholars. Their hard work; dedication and ambition embody the values of The Marlborough School and will serve them well in their future lives. Future Arkwright Scholars can find more information about the programme by accessing the following link:

On behalf of all of us at Marlborough, especially the Design and Technology Department, congratulations Meg and Jack!
