Brian Paice Award for Services to the Community 2016
Award Winners : Harry Millard-Green and Harriet Thomas – Year 11
Harry and Harriet were jointly nominated for the award in recognition of their commitment and endeavours with fundraising over several years for the Oxford Children’s Hospital. Their determination to raise funds has arisen out of their own positive experiences at the hospital together with a desire to give back to the organisation.
They have worked as a team – the ‘H Team’ - and have participated in the OX5 Run since it started 9 years ago. This year ‘Team H’ won the Community Cup, awarded by the hospital to the fastest team represented by the community, not a company. Also this year they were joined by 30 members of their families and they are going to try and make the team the biggest by far next year to mark the 10th anniversary.
In addition to the OX5 Run, other recent fundraising activities have included a charity auction/black and white party which raised about £2500 plus donations of games consoles and games and an event organised by Harry’s Karate club that raised £4000.
Finally, both Harry and Harriet are keen to mark their 18th birthdays and transition to adult care with some form of fundraising party. Watch this space!!!
Highly Commended certificates were awarded to :
