Year 10 Work Experience
Work Experience 2022/23
We are delighted to be able to offer our Year 10 students the opportunity to take part in in-person work experience. During the week commencing 3rd July 2023 your child will be able to participate in an experience of work operated by the school in association with The Changing Education Group.
A work experience placement aims to give young people a taste of ‘The World of Work’, so that they may begin to appreciate the demands which will be made upon them when they enter employment after they have completed their education. The placement will need to be voluntary, subject to the consent of Parent/Guardian and unpaid.
Each student will be expected to attempt to arrange their own placement with the support from parents, relatives, friends and other contacts. If there is any reason why they cannot participate in this particular week, please get in touch with us using the contact details below.
We will be launching Work Experience to the students on Thursday 3rd November. Your child will be sent an email from The Changing Education Group with their Login details for the ConnectED app, which they should download at home. This will be full of information and support to guide them through this process.
Once your child has found their own placement, they need to input the placement details into the ‘ConnectED’ app. This will allow the school to verify the placement provider so that Changing Education can begin facilitating the risk assessment process. Students are also encouraged to engage with numerous key pre-placement resources via the app to prepare for their placement and reflect upon the development of their skills.
Deadline for the employer details is Friday 28th April 2023. Your child’s teachers will plan their programme of work to compensate for the week out of school and ensure that teaching and learning are not affected by the activity. We have allowed all students to access this work experience programme.
Please find on page 2, an outline of timing and process to follow.

Sixth Form
Employability or work-readiness is becoming more and more important to universities and employers. While qualifications remain essential, with very few exceptions, they are no longer the only consideration. By gaining work experience in relevant sectors, students can gain a real advantage when applying for university or work.
In the Sixth Form, students are expected to take personal responsibility for finding the placement and researching their further education and career path as an important part of the process.
Ms Whittaker is available to assist Sixth Form students in identifying and applying to work experience placements
