Transition to Year 7
April 2023
Dear Parents and Carers and Year 7 (Class of 2023),
I am delighted to welcome you and your child to The Marlborough School and I am really looking forward to getting to know your child during the forthcoming transition process. I will shortly be visiting all our Primary Schools to speak with the students and Year 6 teachers. This process will give me an opportunity to get to know our students and also provides a much-needed question and answer session. We are extremely proud of our culture here at Marlborough; we know that all the older students and the staff are looking forward to welcoming our new cohort to this caring environment, where we live out our values of respect, ambition, equality, perseverance, honesty and community. In the meantime, I look forward to learning more about you from your Year 6 teachers and your Parent/Carer/Pupil Information form.
Induction Days
The sessions are designed to welcome our new students, introduce them to key staff and enable them to feel comfortable in their new school. The initial induction sessions will allow opportunities to learn about Marlborough and ask questions. Our key objective is to help in making the move from primary to secondary school as smooth and as anxiety-free as possible. We hope students will discover that The Marlborough School is a place where they will flourish.
The induction days are currently planned for:
Induction day 1: Thursday 18th May - 9.30am - 12.30pm
Induction day 2: Thursday 15th June - 9.30am - 2.30pm
Induction day 3: Tuesday 11th July - 8.25am - 2.30pm
There will also be an information evening for parents and carers on Monday 10th July, 6pm.
If your child has any specific medical needs that we need to be aware of for the induction days, please ensure you let Julie Brinkworth know on medical@themarlboroughschool.org.
Unfortunately, Oxfordshire County Council have stipulated that school buses can not be used by students for the induction days therefore you will need to arrange your own transport.
In addition, I have attached the Parent/Carer/Pupil Information form. This is an important way of communicating more about your child, and this will help us in creating Tutor Groups. Our priority is to create Tutor Groups which comprise a rich mix of backgrounds, interests and abilities, to enable the individual and the group to thrive, both academically and personally. Please can this information be sent back on or before Thursday 18th May to our transition administrator: admissions@themarlboroughschool.org
Yours faithfully,
Mrs A. McCleary
