Shoe Box Appeal

The Duke of Edinburgh students at Marlborough Church of England School have been very busy over the last few months completing the Volunteering section of their award.

They decided to get into the spirt of Christmas by supporting ‘Operation Christmas Child’ a charity which aims to send shoe boxes full of gifts to children in communities all over the world who, otherwise, would not be receiving Christmas presents. The students worked hard researching the various items that needed to be included and were keen to get all the Year 9 Tutor Groups involved. The students were so grateful for everyone’s generosity with the donations, which allowed them to fill 20 shoe boxes full of toys, school supplies and toiletry items which the recipients desperately need.

The students really enjoyed this project and are keen to run it again next year. They have now started the next part of their volunteering by organising a Food Bank drive at Marlborough.

Well done to all the students involved not just in working their way through their Duke of Edinburgh sections but also spreading Christmas joy both locally and internationally.
