Year 8 ‘Meet the Employer’ event – Thursday 1 st May 2025

As part of our Careers programme this event gives students the opportunity to meet with employers and employees in a fun and engaging way, where the student can ask questions relating to the workplace, the roles within it and what qualifications and skills are required for that industry or job role.  The event was run over three 1 hour sessions, where approximately 60 students for each session arrived at the MEC and were then in small groups, placed with the visitor. After 5 minutes a whistle blew to indicate time was up and move on to the next guest.

After nearly an hour of quick-fire questioning and answering, the session finished.  Students completed their feedback on the questionnaire and went onto their next lesson.  Very quickly the next group arrived and we started all over again!  Employers were amazing, greeting each group of students with the same interest and energy. 

Student feedback showed that they ‘loved the activity’, enjoyed meeting the different employers and engaging with them’ and ‘they felt they learned lots more about the world of work’.
