Visit from Calum Miller (MP)
Back
On Friday the 12th of September, Calum Miller — the Liberal Democrat MP of Woodstock and Bicester — visited the school to be interviewed by a collection of Sixth Form students who were interested in politics.
First of all, Miller started the talk by introducing us to his job and what being a politician meant to him – not for creating division, but instead to bring people together. “We’ve got a problem, how are we going to solve it?” he says, addressing the group of enthusiastic young people. “Not: I’m right and you’re wrong.” We asked him questions about issues globally and locally and in turn learned about his position in government and his input into decisions.
We are very grateful to Mr Miller for visiting us and owing us some of his time for us to ask questions, as it was an incredibly interesting, eye-opening and rare opportunity for us sixth formers, and it will be an experience I will never forget.
